Actor turned music producer and artist, “Revelation 13:18” is steadily growing his presence in the music industry. The Louisville based rapper took his inspiration from the people that belonged to his home state like KY Engineering from Lexington, KY engineered for Lil Wayne, Static Major and R. Prophet (Nappy Roots). Revelation refers to himself as a new age, conscious rapper and his influences are Jay Z, Nas, Tupac, Notorious BIG, Master P, and the 5 Percenter Culture.
With a mission to spread conscious enlightenment to the inner city communities through the knowledge of self alongside his music, Revelation always reveals something new and interesting through his music and makes us ponder upon the knowledge that he discloses.
The new age conscious rapper has been keeping busy since releasing Old School feat. Jean-Michel Basquiat and Revelation 13:18 x Basquiat EP gaining attention from Jay-Z and inspiring the Basquiat Broadway Musical composed by Jon Batista with Tony winner Jon Doyle set to direct produced by Alan and Barbara Marks. Revelation’s new project is paying homage to the New Afrikan movement with debut conscious rap album Hollywood Afrikans which is a creative project touching on social commentary that Basquiat used in his paintings. Hollywood Afrikans is sourced from Revelation’s life in South Central Los Angeles’s Overhill and Slauson neighborhood with his poetic rap style creating an abstract expression of real issues of adversity including education, gang culture, mass incarceration, addiction, mental health, religious incertitude and escaping property with progressive methods of economic survival. Hollywood Afrikans is a visual representation of the Hollywood Afrikans album audio experience. The visual adventure is produced by Revelation’s Music Film Clothing and Literature Lifestyle Brand Knowledge + Wisdom = Understanding, Inc. re-introducing at-risk youth to the golden age of hip hop experience with the Nation of Gods and Earths (5 percenter) revelation propagated throughout the world.
It indeed has become a fact that music of Revelation 13:18 is a tribute to the culture.
